ABGF is open to players of all ages and experience levels. If you are bringing children, we recommend bringing them from an age when they are able to receive and retain instruction when game rules are being explained, and to sit through a play experience which may last for 15-30 minutes at a time. Many board games are designed for players aged 6 and up.
There are food and drink options located both inside and immediately outside the National Library Building, as well as a great variety of dining options in the surrounding area.
Looking for something sweet? We’ve teamed up with one of our favourite local ice cream makers, Aphrodite, to create special Origame-inspired flavours that you can try at the festival. Also, for every $50 of games purchased at the Origame booth, you’ll receive one free scoop of ice cream!
Playing board games is hard work for your brain. Refresh yourself with a snack and pop back into a game whenever you feel like you need fuel for your grey matter.
If you have a Play Passport, flip to see which publishers catch your eye and make a beeline for their tables. Or ask anyone at the registration booth for their recommendations!
If you're wandering around and letting your intuition direct you, you will find friendly table hosts stationed at different demo tables to teach you how to play. Table hosts will often be looking for more players to make up a full roster at their tables so feel free to join a table and play with new people.
